Jon Bon Jovi confirmed on September 10th that he is more than a rock legend. In a show of true humanity, the ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ singer helped a woman in distress who was standing on the ledge of a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee.
This immense show from the New Jersey legend might have gone under the radar without the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department sharing a video of Bon Jovi and his team. They were crossing the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge when they saw the woman dangerously standing over the city’s Cumberland River.
Posting the heart-warming video on social media, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department wrote: “A shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge [on] Tuesday night.”
Their message continued: “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
From the footage, the woman in blue can be seen standing looking down from the ledge. While other people crossing the bridge walked on past as if she wasn’t there, the blonde woman who Bon Jovi was with made a beeline straight for her, closely followed by the rock icon.
They both can be seen to comfort her, and after a couple of minutes of talking, they heartwarmingly help her over the rails back to safety, where Bon Jovi kept his cool, with his arms comfortingly on her at one point, clearly still reassuring her. He can also be seen hugging her.
“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” Chief John Drake of the Metropolitan Police Department said in his own statement.
While it hasn’t been confirmed why Bon Jovi was in Nashville, given the other people he was with and the presence of a camera, it appeared that they were filming a video of sorts, which was confirmed with separate footage from the ground posted on social media.
After the hazard seemed to have cooled down, the footage shows Bon Jovi and his team leaving the bridge with the woman.
In other Jon Bon Jovi news, in March, he revealed that he doesn’t know when he’ll be able to tour again after undergoing vocal surgery in 2022. After being in recovery for two years, he maintained that he hopes to return to touring in 2025, but it remained uncertain whether this wish will materialise.
During an interview with the radio station Mix 104.1 Boston, Bon Jovi stated: “I don’t know about a tour. It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery.”
