Stephen Stills and Neil Young have confirmed that they will be headlining the 2024 Harvest Moon charity concert. Taking place in Lake Hughes, California, on October 5th, the gig lasts the entire day and is to help raise money for Turtle Camp and the Bridge School.
While there is already a lot of buzz about the show with the two iconic folk singers headlining, many artists who have yet to be announced will also be performing. Tickets for the show will go on sale on Friday, September 6th The tickets will go on sale on AXS, but if they sell out, there will be deals elsewhere on sites such as StubHub.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the community to Harvest Moon at the Painted Turtle,” wrote April Tani, the Painted Turtle executive, “This event not only brings together amazing musicians and families, but also raises vital funds for two organisations committed to changing lives. It’s a day of music, fun, and philanthropy – what could be better?”
The Painted Turtle and the Bridge School, the event’s beneficiaries, both focus on helping children in need. They try to provide education and experience to kids who wouldn’t have access to it elsewhere. While the Bridge School helps offer an education to children who have physical disabilities, the Painted Turtle provides education for serious medical conditions.
“The concert will begin as attendees arrive to the sounds of the marimba ensemble Masangha,” said the event describing the itinerary for the day, “As the day progresses, Neil Young and Stephen Stills will take the stage for individual sets, joined by other talented performers to be announced. The event will culminate with a sunset performance, creating a magical atmosphere for all who attend. The festival-like day will also feature family-friendly activities, including face painting, food trucks, and much more.”
Young has a history of working with the Bridge School. From 1986 to 2015, he held a yearly benefit concert to support the charity. He also performed at the very first Harvest Moon concert in 2019, which featured additional sets from Father John Misty, Masanga, and Norah Jones.
This upcoming reunion of Stills and Young comes almost a year after the two of them met at a Los Angeles show in 2023. It comes as a surprise to many people as Neil Young recently cancelled his tour because of illness, “I just woke up one morning on the bus and I said, ‘I can’t do this, I gotta stop’. I felt sick when I thought of going onstage.”
