Linkin Park‘s work with late vocalist Chester Bennington helped make them become one of the most prominent forces in rock music throughout the 2000s. Their sound separated the band from their peers, and the voice of Bennington brought with it a wide range of emotions that when he sadly died in 2017, it left a hole that could never truly be repaired.
Following his tragic death, Linkin Park immediately called it a day, and it seemed they would never return, but now, that could be all about to change. Notably, in the years since the band’s original story concluded, Mike Shinoda has embarked upon a successful solo career.
That said, Billboard report the band is keen on a potential reunion tour with a female lead singer. Several sources have confirmed this, as the booking agency WME has started taking offers for a potential Linkin Park tour along with prospective headline festival slots.
In March, Orgy’s Jay Gordon addressed the rumours when he appeared on Wired in the Empire on KCAL 96.7. He remarked. “Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They’ve been around a long time, and they’re still going for it… It’s going to be tough without Chester, but we’ll see. I heard they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.”
Gordon later issued a statement shortly after his appearance on the radio saying his comments were taken out of order and he doesn’t “know nothing about any of that.” Nevertheless, his remarks caused the rumour mill to go into overdrive.
One potential name that has been speculated is Amy Lee from Evanescence. However, the singer has distanced herself from the role. Lee told iHeartRadio Canada she is a massive fan of Linkin Park, but the band hadn’t contacted her about the gig.
“But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part-time,” she said of the rumours.
Shinoda was also asked about the potential reunion, remarking to Revolver: “Rumours always go around. People always ask what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there’s something to tell you, we will tell you.”
Shinoda continued: “When there’s an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you’re hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it.”

Linkin Park wouldn’t be the first band to replace their singer with a female lead. When Nirvana were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the band did a mini-reunion but had multiple female lead singers supply Kurt Cobain vocals as opposed to getting one specific replacement.
This is a developing story.
