Jeremey Allen White has revealed that he has been texting and emailing with Bruce Springsteen about his role in the upcoming biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere.
Deliver Me From Nowhere will focus on the making of Springsteen’s sixth record, Nebraska, which was first released in 1982. ‘The Boss’ used the record to explore his own feelings of depression through a series of fictional characters and considers it the album that best represents him.
Scott Cooper is set to direct the biopic, with his previous credits including 2009’s Crazy Heart and 2015’s Black Mass. White, who has received widespread acclaim for his role as chef Carmy in The Bear, was announced as the top choice to play Springsteen earlier this year.
Now, the star has revealed that he has contacted Springsteen about the role. During an appearance on the red carpet at an Olympics party in Paris, White divulged to Variety that he and Springsteen had “texted and emailed.”
White also acknowledged that he may finally meet Springsteen this weekend, at the second Wembley date on his ongoing world tour with the E Street Band. “I’m really excited to see him perform,” White enthused, adding that Springsteen texts, “Like a boss.”
After stopping in London for two shows at Wembley, Springsteen will return to the United States for a number of shows for the final North American leg of the tour. He will take to stages across Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Maryland, and New Jersey across August and September before playing a string of dates in Canada in October. The tour is scheduled to conclude next summer at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.
For those fans who missed out on the tour, a new documentary titled Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will provide a glimpse at The Boss backstage. The film will hit Disney+ in October, on a currently unspecified date.
The official summary for Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band states that the documentary will provide “the most in-depth look ever at the creation of their live performances” through chats with Springsteen and recordings from rehearsals.
Springsteen’s trusted collaborator Thom Zimny directed the film after previously working with ‘The Boss’ on the Grammy-winning Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run and the Emmy-winning Springsteen on Broadway.
