Chloe Lattanzi, the daughter of the late Dame Olivia Newton-John, has shared a heartfelt message on social media, reflecting on her first Mother’s Day without her cherished mum.
Newton-John passed away following a long battle with cancer on August 8, 2022.
The Grease star died peacefully surrounded by her family at her Southern California ranch, according to her husband who announced her passing via social media at the time.
As Mother’s Day approached, Lattanzi extended her sympathy to those who had suffered the loss of their mothers. She also urged those whose mothers were still with them to hold them tightly and never let go, in a moving tribute to Newton-John on social media
“I hold you in my heart every moment. I feel your wings wrapped around me at all times,” she wrote alongside a nostalgic video of her and her mother playing on the beach.
“I will strive to do good works in your honor and because like mother like daughter. We live in our hearts. You gave me that. You gave me all.
“For all those who don’t have a mother today know that I’m holding you. And for all those who do wrap them in your arms and never let them go.”
Fans were quick to thank Lattanzi for her beautiful tribute, many offering their messages of support to the 37-year-old on what surely must have been a difficult day.
“Thinking of you Chloe, this is the hardest day ever, especially that it’s our first Mother’s Day without our mums,” one person wrote.
“She’s still wrapping her arms and wings around you.”
“Thinking of you on your first Mother’s Day without her,” another commented.
“Thanks for sharing this clip Chloe. I love this song, you and your mom will live on forever in our hearts. Happy “heavenly” Mother’s Day Olivia!!”
Lattanzi has made an effort to keep her late mother’s memory alive, most recently she opened up about the final words her mother spoke to her.
“The last words she could say to me was, ‘My sunshine,’ ” Lattanzi said during an interview with the Today Show.
“And right before she lost her ability to speak, she was making jokes.
“I love my mom more than anything.
“She’s my mama, you know? She’s not Olivia Newton-John to me, but I’m so glad that she was Olivia Newton-John for so many people.”
