Bon Jovi documentary series will show frontman at his “most vulnerable”

A new documentary series about Bon Jovi is coming to Hulu, with cooperation from past and present members. It promises to show the band’s frontman in his “most vulnerable” moments.

The four-part show, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, will cover the history of the group, who are credited with bridging the rock, metal, and pop genres. Their most notable hits include ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, ‘You Gave Love a Bad Name’ and the ballad, ‘Always’.

Bon Jovi were formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey. Since then, the group have had an expansive cast of full-time and touring musicians. It currently consists of frontman Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Phil X, bassist Hugh McDonald, keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres.

Founding bassist Alex John Such departed in 1994 and passed away in 2022. Longtime lead guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora, who had been with the band since 1983, quit in 2013 to spend more time with his family.

Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will arrive on Hulu on April 26th. A description of the series reads: “As thrilling as the story of a once-in-a-lifetime talent is, it is even more rare that a legend like Jon Bon Jovi lets the world into his most vulnerable moments while he’s still living them”.

It will include personal videos, unreleased demos, lyrics and “never-before-seen photos that chronicle the journey from Jersey Shore clubs to the biggest stages on the planet.”

Furthermore, Sambora has already said that a reunion tour is not out of the picture. “There’s a documentary that’s being done about the band and stuff that I’ve participated in, and people want to come see us play, and it’s going to make everybody happy,” the guitarist told People in November.

“I mean, essentially, that’s why you do it at this point. So yeah, it definitely could happen. It’s just a question of when everybody’s ready to go do it. It will be a big, massive kind of undertaking,” Sambora added.
